Tested laptops

7 laptops tried: 3 work, 2 partly, 1 with a fix pending, 1 not working. Every row is a report from someone who booted the stick, not a guarantee.

Dell Latitude 5300
Core i5-8365U (Whiskey Lake), UHD 620, 16 GB
WorksEverything tested: boot, sign-in, Play Store, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sound, touchpad with gestures, brightness, battery, install to the internal NVMeSuspend and resume (not supported anywhere yet)The maintainer's machine; the project was built on it.
Acer Aspire Lite AL15-52
Core i5-1235U, 8 GB, 512 GB NVMe
WorksWi-Fi, display, touchpad, keyboard, sound, brightness, camera, Bluetooth–Reported on kernel #32/#33 in live mode. Needed two firmware fixes (Realtek Wi-Fi firmware, and the Intel AX201 Bluetooth firmware name ibt-0040-1050.sfi), both in firmware release v34 and later. A stick made before that needs a rebuild, or an Update from a fresh stick.
Lenovo ThinkPad T470
Intel 7th gen (Kaby Lake)
WorksReported as working with no setup at all–Short report, no details on individual devices yet.
HP OmniBook 7
Core Ultra 5 225U, 16 GB LPDDR5, 512 GB NVMe
Partly worksTouchpad, keyboard, brightness, display (live USB)Wi-Fi (Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE201)Sound, webcam and Bluetooth were not tested. A very new platform: Wi-Fi has no fix yet.
Dell XPS 16 (2026)
Intel Core Ultra (details not given)
Partly worksBoots and runsScreen refresh rate, Wi-Fi, cameraThe reporter says a Linux kernel option fixes the screen on this model. MODOPTS in gbos.cfg can now set driver options, so it can be tried without a rebuild. Wi-Fi and camera are open; a MIPI camera needs more than a driver.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro
Core Ultra 5 325 (Panther Lake), 16 GB, 1 TB NVMe
Fix pendingBoots; black screen after choosing live boot on the reporter's stickDisplay on sticks built before firmware v35Cause found: the xe graphics driver could not load its Panther Lake GuC firmware. Firmware release v35 includes it; a patch zip exists for older sticks. Waiting for the reporter to confirm.
HP 14-ne0013dx
Intel (details not given)
Does not work–Did not work for the reporterNo logs yet. Post gbos/logs/boot-N/hwdetect.txt from the stick and we can look.

Based on reports from people who tried it, last updated 2026-10-17. Results change as fixes land: a row says what was reported, not what the latest build can do. Post yours in Hardware Compatibility with your hwdetect.txt.

Patterns so far

  • Business and mainstream laptops from 2017 to 2022 (Latitude 5300, ThinkPad T470, Aspire Lite AL15-52) work with little or no setup.
  • Newer Core Ultra machines boot but run into missing pieces: xe graphics needs its firmware (Framework 13 Pro), and Wi-Fi 7 cards (OmniBook 7, XPS 16) have no working driver and firmware pair yet.
  • Missing firmware is the usual cause of a device that does nothing. hwdetect.txt lists it under "missing firmware".

Report yours

Boot the stick, then open gbos/logs/boot-N/hwdetect.txt on another computer. Post it with the laptop's model, CPU, RAM and what works in Hardware Compatibility, or on Discord. To try a driver option on your own, see MODOPTS in Configuration.
